Mike resides in the Seabeck area with his wife, Erika, and two daughters. Mike grew up in Washington. He graduated from North Thurston High School in 1969 and finished his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Washington. Mike taught science, mathematics and computer applications in Washington's public and private secondary schools. During his teaching career he finished his Masters of Education at the University of Washington.

In his time off you will find Mike enjoying his daughters' ballet recitals, hiking in the Olympics with his family or just sitting down with a good book.
